Northern Illinois Radon Testing and Mitigation
Radon Testing Measures Your Home’s Risk of Radon Gas
Lifetime Radon Solutions serves Northern Illinois with professional radon testing and mitigation services to measure radon exposure risks. Testing is important as radon is colorless and odorless and creates no symptoms until too late. Radon levels can vary drastically, even in neighboring homes. A professional radon test is the only way to confirm if your home is affected.
Testing your home, school or business for radon is the first step toward creating a safe and healthy environment. Radon testing is a straightforward process and our Northern Illinois radon testing and mitigation specialists carry out tests with minimal disruption to your daily routine.
Radon Testing Instruments Meet IEMA and EPA Standards
Lifetime Radon Solutions uses the Airthings Corentium Pro continuous radon monitor, which complies with Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards. This device is calibrated for accuracy and approved for real estate transactions. The Airthings Corentium Pro is more reliable than traditional charcoal canister test kits and provides a more precise picture of your home’s radon levels.
Radon Testing is Fast and Easy
When you schedule a test with Lifetime Radon Solutions, one of our radon specialists will come to your home to identify the lowest level of living space, typically your basement. Radon enters through cracks and gaps in the foundation and is drawn in by negative air pressure.
Our expert technician will place the Airthings Corentium Pro monitor in the lowest living area of your home and configure it to run for 48 hours of continuous monitoring. During this testing period, windows should remain closed and air conditioning should be off. Normal entry and exit through doors is fine but doors should not be propped open.
We will return after two days to retrieve the monitor and analyze the results.
Surgeon General Health Advisory:
"Indoor radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States and breathing it over prolonged periods can present a significant health risk to families all over the country. It's important to know that this threat is completely preventable. Radon can be detected with a simple test and fixed through well-established venting techniques." -- January 2005
Lifetime Radon Solutions Provides an Easy-to-Read Test Report
The Airthings Corentium Pro monitor records hourly data throughout the test, correlating time and readings to test data. Once we’ve analyzed the results we’ll email you an easy-to-read chart of the test findings with an inspection report and recommendations for the next steps.
Radon levels can fluctuate based on various factors, including weather and season. If your radon level is at or near the EPA action level of 4.0 pCi/L, we will help you begin the radon mitigation process.
